Ingredients
- 6 medium apples (about 2 lb / 900 g), peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 3/4 cup (95 g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup (45 g) rolled oats
- 1/2 cup (100 g) packed light brown sugar
- 6 tbsp (85 g) cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 1/4 tsp fine salt
Method
- Heat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly butter an 8-inch square baking dish.
- Toss apples with granulated sugar, lemon juice, and cinnamon. Spread in the dish.
- Combine flour, oats, brown sugar, and salt. Rub in the cold butter with your fingertips until crumbly, with some small butter pieces remaining. Scatter evenly over the apples.
- Bake for 35–45 minutes, until the topping is golden and the apples are tender when pierced. Rest for 10–15 minutes before serving.
