A Little Thanksgiving Craft Before the Potatoes
Easy, low-mess projects that end up on the table.
Leaf place cards.
Colored paper, a pencil, scissors, a marker. Draw one simple leaf template; grown-ups can cut shapes for little ones.
- Write a guest’s name on each leaf.
- Let children add veins or a small drawing.
- Lay each card beside the plate, away from food.
A gratitude paper chain.
Cut paper strips in two or three fall colors. Everyone writes or draws one thing they’re thankful for. Nobody owes the room a speech.
- Keep strips, markers, and tape on a tray.
- Loop and tape the strips into a chain.
- Hang it where it won’t fight with doors or dinner.
A table-story page.
Give each kid a page with three prompts: something funny, something kind, something to remember.
- Drawing counts as an answer.
- Offer sharing rather than requiring it.
- Date the pages. Save the ones the kids want to keep.
