Cute Halloween Crafts. Easy Cleanup.
Three small projects that look festive without a craft-store expedition.
Folded-paper bats.
You need black paper, a pencil, kid-safe scissors, and removable wall-safe tape. An adult can cut one template to keep things moving.
- Fold paper in half and draw half a bat along the fold.
- Cut, unfold, and bend the wings slightly forward.
- Arrange three or five bats rising diagonally above a shelf; test tape on an inconspicuous spot.
Painted mini pumpkins.
Mini pumpkins, washable craft paint, and a covered work surface. These are decorations, not dinner.
- Wipe and dry the pumpkins.
- Choose two colors and paint dots, stripes, or simple faces.
- Let dry on the protected surface before moving them indoors.
Paper-bag ghost lanterns.
White paper bags, a black marker, and battery LED lights make a cute windowsill moment. Never use a flame in a paper bag.
- Draw a different face on each bag.
- Open the bases and set the bags on a stable surface.
- Place an LED light inside; keep battery compartments secured and out of children’s reach.
Quit while everyone still likes you.
One project at a time. A tray makes carrying supplies and cleanup way easier.
- Give younger children a simpler version.
- Let adults handle cutting or supplies beyond the child’s ability.
- Keep the wonky result. That’s the part you’ll want to remember.
Make it a tiny craft afternoon.
Invite one friend, put on a favorite playlist, and pick the project before anyone shows up. Three activity stations are not required.
- Set out only the supplies for the chosen craft.
- Offer plain paper for anyone who’d rather draw.
- Finish with a story while an adult clears the table.
