Picking, varieties, reservations, and activities change. Use the orchard’s current info, not a photo from last fall.
- Confirm hours, entry requirements, and what is open.
- Wear comfortable shoes that can handle uneven ground.
- Bring only the containers the orchard permits.
Take five good pictures. Then stop.
A short list leaves room for the actual day. The orchard does the background for free.
- A wide view down the rows.
- Hands choosing an apple, where picking is allowed.
- The basket filling up, a walking family picture, and one quiet portrait.
Give the apples a job.
Pick enough for snacking and one baking project. A countertop avalanche of apples is not a tradition worth starting.
- Ask which varieties suit your planned use.
- Set aside a few for snacks and a batch for a galette or crumble.
- Check apples when you get home and store them according to the variety and condition.
